The records of Kaohsiung Wild Bird Society indicate that there are more than 110 kinds of birds in this wetland including birds of conservation such as Black-faced Spoonbill, Chinese Egret, Osprey, Peregrine Falcon, Common Kestrel, Magpie, Brown Shrike as well as rare migrants wryneck, Broad-billed Roller and Black Bird.

There are at least 75 kinds of plants and the dominant trees are Avicennia marina, Lumnitzera racemosa by the sea, horsetail tree and portia trees in the woods, paypyrus and lalang grass at the bottom layer and creeping sky flower. The landscape of cover plant is composed of Cynodon, Sesuvium portulacastrum (L.), Sporobolus and Chenopodiaceae.

There is no in-depth investigation conducted on insects and common insects are Fabricius, Pantala flavescens, Crocothemis servilia and Ischnura senegalenisis. Commonly seen Amphibian reptiles include Mabuya longicaudata and Hemidactylus.

Fiddler crab lives in the ditches among mangroves including the species of Uca lactea perplexa, Uca dussumieri dussumieri, Cardisoma carnifex and Helice formosensis. It is easy to see Cardisoma carnifex on the banks offish ponds.
